Oh, Good Lord!

To Carry or Not to Carry
Submitted by mullman on Fri, 04/24/2009 - 07:03This news story caught my attention today and it made me think about the balance between our individual rights and those of our neighbors.
I am a big believer in individual rights and it has been proven through multiple court cases that the Second Amendment is about an individual's right to carry a weapon. Of course the leftists continue to disagree with those court rulings but the fact remains that the U.S. Constitution gives individuals the right to carry weapons.
Governor Doyle's Increased Taxes
Submitted by mullman on Thu, 02/19/2009 - 19:31If taxes on cigarettes will discourage some people from smoking then isn't it also true that taxes on income discourages some people from working? And taxes on business discourages entrepreneurs from starting a business? Or hiring more employees for a business they already have? And taxes on property discourages people from buying homes? The governor seems to get it. Taxes limit the activity that is being taxed. Apparently, though, he wants to discourage business and property ownership in our state.
Perfect Example of how Tax and Spend Does Not Work
Submitted by mullman on Wed, 02/18/2009 - 08:19This is an excellent example that shows the glaring inadequacies in a tax and spend budget philosophy.
When Governor Doyle began his term he made it very clear that he was going to cut taxes. He didn't. They increased and many businesses have either closed their doors or simply left the state. This led the governor to raising taxes even more so that the budget could make up the losses caused by the lack of business.
Small Gathering with Scott Walker
Submitted by mullman on Thu, 02/12/2009 - 20:08I was privileged to attend a small gathering with Milwaukee County Executive Scott Walker today in La Crosse. He outlined his vision for the future as he prepares for his upcoming State of the County address. I'm very impressed with this man. Instead of boring us with tired rhetoric he provided some excellent ideas for ways that he plans to help his county overcome the economic downturn we're all feeling today.
