It's the Economy Stupid

Obama, McCain to attend economic bailout talks
September 25
By LIZ SIDOTI

WASHINGTON (AP) - John McCain and Barack Obama say presidential politics should have no role in the government's efforts to save the crippled financial system. Yet, each is playing his own politics toward the same goals - showing leadership during crisis, getting credit for any solutions, and, ultimately, winning the presidency.

I have to admit that I don't fully understand all of the details of this economic problem we appear to be in but I do know one thing for sure: I DO NOT WANT MY TAX MONEY BEING USED TO PAY FOR SOME OTHER IDIOT'S HOUSE PAYMENT!

I realize there are a lot of details with regard to the who's and why's in this situation but it seems to me that it comes down to some very basic principles. Some idiots in Congress decided that everyone was entitled to own a home whether they could afford it or not. With this lofty philosophy in mind they went ahead and changed the laws so that crooks in the financial industry could sucker people into loans that they really couldn't afford. Then the crooks soaked the companies and lined their own pockets and now we have a ton of loans that are worthless and can't be repaid.

Here's where my simple mind goes as a result of this situation: A bailout of these crooks and idiots will be like rewarding your children for mis-behaving at home. There MUST be consequences for bad behavior or no one will learn anything from this. The crooks need to see the inside of a penitentiary and the idiots need to lose the homes that they very well knew they couldn't afford. I also pray that the morons in Congress get fired but I won't hold my breathe.

I have heard that if Congress will change the rules that govern how companies must mark down the value of loans this could help those companies get out from under them without forcing taxpayers to foot the bill. Seems to me this is a much better solution than diving head first into the shallow pool of socialism.
